National Union of Ghana Students, China (NUGS-China) is an international branch of National Union of Ghana Students in Ghana. The Union includes all Ghanaians studying in China both self-sponsored and scholarship holders. NUGS-China started operating under the first constitution on 5th February, 1988. The Union has the following core objectives;

  1. Defend the rights of the members and awaken the spirit of solidarity among them.
  2. Strengthen and reinforce the union amongst Ghanaian students.
  3. Promote friendship between Ghanaian students and other students in China.
  4. Mobilize the intellectual resources of members in an effort to contribute positively to the socio-economic development of the motherland.

In an effort to help cover all Ghanaians in China which is a large country with Ghanaians all over, the Union has created local chapters at the provincial/city level. Each of the local chapters has its executives that represent the national officers at the provincial/city level. They liaise with the national officers regarding the welfare of members and the activities of the mother Union. More provincial/city chapters are yet to be inaugurated. With the reviewed constitution, the mother Union will have five (5) national officers namely: President, General Secretary, Treasurer, National Coordinator and Women’s Commissioner, effective from the 2011 Congress. The local chapters will still maintain the three positions: President, Secretary and Treasurer.
